Digital Rights of Asia

Asia holds more than half the world's population and a governance range wider than any other continent, from open parliamentary democracies to absolute monarchies to one party states and a handful of active or recent conflict zones. That range shows up directly in how each country treats your data, your speech, and the platforms you use.

This project answers the same twenty questions used across the Digital Rights Atlas for all 48 countries of Asia, covering data privacy, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and free expression online. Built from real statutes, official regulator guidance, and reporting from groups such as Freedom House, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and ARTICLE19, so you can compare what is protected on paper against what actually happens in practice.
