BRICS+ now spans most of the world's population and a fast growing share of its economy, built as a counterweight to Western led institutions. Its members range from parliamentary democracies to one party states, and that range shows up directly in how each one treats your data, your speech, and the platforms you use.
This project answers the same twenty questions used across the Digital Rights Atlas for all eleven full BRICS+ members and the ten countries holding partner status as of 2025, covering data privacy, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and free expression online. Built from real statutes, official regulator guidance, and reporting from groups such as Freedom House, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and ARTICLE19, so you can compare what is protected on paper against what actually happens in practice.
